I am going to Disneyland in May, will it be busy and where are the best travel deals?

Avoid Disneyland on weekends, can be too crowded. For travel deals, use hotwire.com or priceline.com, you can pick the area, price and star rating. It works great, got four star hotels in New Orleans and LA for less than $100. If you pick a hotel by the park, transportation will be either free or cheap.

The last week in May is Memorial weekend – isn’t it? It will be so busy there that you will wait in lines from 1-3 hours for one ride. People buy passes so they can go during the ‘off’ times, but I don’t even know if that really helps. Even Downtown Disney is so crowded, you walk into people – it’s terrible. I’ve lived here all my life and I probably haven’t been to Disneyland for about 10 years – we do occasionally go over to Downtown Disney but so does everyone else in Orange County. The hotel to see is the ‘Californian,’ it’s beautiful. You should call to find out when the ‘off’ season is – if there is one. Hope it works out.

Hi there! I operate a Disney Vacation Planning Service out of Midvale, Utah! I have made that drive many times. If you are interested in our services for your Disneyland vacation, check out the link listed below.

In the meantime, let me answer your questions. Disneyland is currently offering a great deal on park hopper tickets where you can enter the parks an hour early one day and save a ton of money. For example, I priced this out for a client of mine who is traveling there in June. There are 2 adults and 2 children and they are staying for 5 days. They already have their hotel booked, so I just did a search for ticket prices. The total ticket cost for 4 people for 5 days (park hopper) came to $696 total. That is about $139 a day for all 4 people! That’s great considering how much a single day pass is.
Check out for details on special offers they have.

Or you can find discounted park tickets at these locations:

    AAA (membership required)
Sam’s Club (membership required- travel services)
Costco – (membership required – travel services)

Disney Stores also offer discounted park tickets, but sadly we don’t have any Disney Stores in the state of Utah.

May is typically crowded. Be sure to visit the parks on weekdays – no weekends. And arrive early to take advantage of all the time you can.

Any Disneyland Resort hotel is going to be pricey – especially that time of year. I recommend you stay off property, but nearby. I highly recommend the Peacock Inn & Suites. They are located just down the street from the Resort and offer a complimentary shuttle service.
